Obedience Classes

Dog Obedience Classes offered

Your new dog will be a member of your family for many years to come. Whether your dog is a young puppy or an older dog, the best thing you can
do right now is to start obedience training. The Highlands County Humane Society offers free obedience classes to anyone who adopts a dog.

A little time spent now will pay off since training will make your dog a pleasure to spend time with.

Dog Trainer: Ray Mills
( New Students should call ahead 863-414-0131 )

Location: Humane Society 7421 Hayward Taylor Blvd. Sebring, Fl

Time: Thursdays - Puppies & Beginners 6pm - 7pm

For the first class, Please bring:
Adoption papers and record of rabies and bordetella shots.
Collar: Buckle collar for puppies.
Slip collar for training older/larger dogs.

Do not leave a slip collar on an unattended dog and never pull too tightly on the collar. Head collars can be used. No pinch, prong or shock
collars - these should not be used unless the dog is extreamely aggressive - and then only with a professional trainer. Call ahead for an
evaluation if you think your dog is aggressive.

Six foot leash and a water bowl

Privately purchased dogs are welcome with a one time fee of $45.00 for lifetime of classes.

The first step in training is to get your new dog to look at you when you call his name. Always use praise and rewards if your dog looks or comes to you. DO NOT use the dog's name if you are scolding him. If hearing his name becomes associated with a negative experience, you will never have the joy of seeing your dog happily running to you with pleasure and excitement!
